Secure Internet Tunnels with Ventus VPNs

Virtual private networks (VPNs) are a cost-effective way to extend transaction processing connections anywhere broadband is available. For transactions transmitted over the Internet, Ventus VPNs establish encrypted connections through any public Internet access point.

Ventus EdgePoint VPN and HighBand VPN services offer secure, private transaction aggregation using our VPN concentrators or routers, or third-party VPN hardware.

EdgePoint VPN provides a monitored and managed VPN connection over the Internet--through a Ventus appliance for remote branch offices, ATMs, self-service kiosks, and other edge devices.

HighBand VPN provides a monitored and managed VPN service over high-bandwidth circuits for host-to-host connections between data centers. This service supports aggregation of multiple edge VPN locations and other methods for delivering high-bandwidth, encrypted traffic between data centers. HighBand VPN supports tunnels with speeds of 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

These VPN services are managed 24x7 by Ventus personnel across the network--from the edge to the core or between data centers. Our services include equipment configuration and upgrades, as well as remote diagnostics and proactive alerts through Ventus Genesis™, our web-based management platform.

Security Methods in Ventus VPNs

Encryption, authentication, data compression, and secure tunneling are key methods for securing VPN connections over the Internet. Ventus routers use IPSec VPN tunnels that encrypt each packet on the network level--a significantly more secure transport methodology than other tunneling options.

When connected to the Internet, the Ventus VPN router establishes a secure tunnel to a dedicated Ventus VPN server/concentrator using high-level encryption and private-key device identification. Ventus employs a range of methods to allow traffic from an authorized network device attached to the Ventus VPN router to traverse the Internet safely, securely, and encrypted at all times:
