VENTUS NETWORKS
SIGNS CONTRACTS WITH JOHNSON SPACE CENTER
AND SAN ANTONIO CITY EMPLOYEES FEDERAL
CREDIT UNIONS FOR CDMA FINANCIAL ROUTING
NORWALK, CT November 11, 2004 -
Ventus Networks has signed contracts
with the Texas-based Johnson Space
Center Federal Credit Union and San
Antonio City Employees Credit Union to
provide a new cellular transport service
designed for ATM's. The
arrangement includes Ventus wireless
service utilizing VFN cellular routers
and VNet Constant-Connect operating
software.
"We are pleased to provide our
Secured Cellular Transaction Routing
service to both of these established
credit unions. Johnson Space
Center and San Antonio City Employees
Federal Credit Unions are the newest
additions to out list of other
distinguished financial institutions
that have already entrusted us to
deliver their sensitive financial data
traffic", said Ron Riva, Vice President
of Ventus Networks.
Ventus Networks high-speed cellular
transport solution operates in
conjunction with TCP/IP and legacy
protocols, enabling any remote device to
communicate through a single network
scheme. Ventus cellular transport
operates over a private cellular (800
MHz) and PCS (1900 MHz) infrastructure
and is designed for businesses that have
portfolio of deployed devices
facilitating financial transactions.
Ventus uses its proprietary VFN
wireless series routers and VNet
Constant-Connect software enabling
operation in all GSM and CDMA2000
environments. The cellular
transport service operates as part of a
virtual private network protected by
enhanced network encryption and key
exchange security and firewalls that
Ventus includes as part of the service
offering. Ventus Cellular
transport service can be utilized on any
ATM/Point of sale terminal or
transactional kiosk.
"We are most excited about the
ability this will give us to deploy new
machines. No longer will we have
to wait for the local phone company to
run and test a data circuit and then get
the building owner to extend the d-mark
for us to the ATM location (usually 2 to
3 week process if all goes well).
With the Ventus solution all you need is
a power connection at the ATM location",
said Steve Branstetter, Executive Vice
President of Johnson Space Center Credit
Union.
Monitored at Ventus' Operations
Center, the network allows for seamless
transaction routing between device and
host processor. Ventus Networks
will provide the cellular transport, VFN
Routers and ongoing network monitoring
and support.
"The cost-savings alone made moving
to a wireless environment for our ATMs
is a very easy decision for CECU.
The Ventus Networks cellular routers
combined with its transaction routing
network offers us a perfect end-to-end
solution, "said Bill Bohlke, CECU Vice
President of MIS division.
