VENTUS NETWORKS’ ROUTERS AND ANTENNAS CREATE BUZZ AT RECENT
SELF-SERVICE AND KIOSK SHOW IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
Norwalk, CT – October 2, 2006 Ventus Networks, a leader in providing managed
networked telecommunications solutions throughout the ATM banking industry, recently exhibited
at NetWorld Alliance’s Self-Service and Kiosk Show, held at the Henry B. Gonzalez
Convention Center, San Antonio, Texas, September 28-29, 2006. Since the advent of Automated
Teller Machines (ATMs), the idea for “do-it-yourself” transactions has become
enormously popular. Now, the self-service concept has taken off and is providing numerous
options for customer service and fulfillment. This show presented a first-hand opportunity for
many businesses outside the financial industry, to learn about Ventus Networks’
telecommunications networks and wireless products. The Ventus 2000 series of routers that
enable conversion to wireless broadband, coupled with a “first glance” at our
industry-leading antenna, created buzz on the exhibit floor.
Most kiosks and self-serve operations require the mobility that wireless technology affords.
Vending machines, multimedia downloads, gift or store value cards, and other point-of-sale
(POS) transactions also have very unique requirements for speed, flexibility, and security.
Employing a wireless network to transfer data is fast, secure, highly portable, affordable,
and can be integrated without service interruptions.
Industry-Leading Antenna and Wireless Routers Attract Audiences
The Ventus exhibit team, Mark W. Haddad, Executive Vice President of Business Operations;
Tina Iverson, Vice President of Business Development; and Juan Palma, Network Engineer were
deluged with questions about the Ventus suite of services and products. The booth consisted
of the company’s back wall cityscape image and logo, but the excitement was on the table
and on the projected screen images. Supported by programmers in the Connecticut office, the
on-site staff ran a demonstration of the Ventus monitoring platform. In the middle of a busy
exhibit hall, solidly built of brick and concrete and overflowing with electronic interference,
Ventus’ newest, proprietary antenna picked up strong signals that enabled this real-time
demo to run at impressively quick response speeds.
The routers also drew much attention, as they supply the means for converting signals from a
wide variety of applications: TCP/IP, ASYNC, or BISYNC. This wireless capability opens doors
for diverse businesses, as indicated by the wide array of attendees: small store retailers,
major chains, railroad companies, financial institutions, wholesalers, vending machine
companies, domestic airline carriers, manufacturers, on-line resellers, food and convenience
stores, and utility companies. All network traffic is Triple DES encrypted with IPSec and x.509
certificates, providing standard based reliable security.
