"This cellular solution gives us as much flexibility and more bandwidth than the 56 KBPS dedicated Frame Relay solution we've been using, and allows us to experiment with placement or move an ATM to another location without disrupting communications. It's easy to add ATMs to our network, and going wireless means that our installation and operating costs are substantially lower."

Site Selection
USFCU had existing locations that they had selected to install Ventus Networks Cellular Managed Solution.
Radio Frequency Study
Before moving forward with the project, we verified that cellular service was available at each identified location. This is called "service prequalification" or "Radio Frequency (RF)" study. |

Site Survey
Physical site inspections were performed to determine the signal strength prior to placement of the VFN Cellular Routers and if we had a secure place for the Routers at each terminal.
Network Architecture Ventus Networks cellular network engineers worked with the Union Square ATM MIS team to determine the nature of the devices and software loads, processing timers, keep alive sequences and their anticipated transaction volume in order for the proper selection of the rate plans. Ventus Networks designed the proper software load and pre-configures our VFN series cellular router with Triple DES IPsec tunneling and
x.509 Key exchange for security authentication before placement at their sites.
Router Installation
Ventus Networks' preconfigured routers were shipped and plugged in at each site and the installation was complete and the terminals started passing transactions immediately.
